The old drawbridge, Vindebrua, marks the historic entrance to the Old Town of Fredrikstad. Centuries ago, visitors would arrive here on foot or on horseback, crossing the bridge into the fortified town.
On this cold January morning the small pond beneath the bridge was completely frozen. The ducks that usually gather here were nowhere to be seen — perhaps away on their winter holiday.
The soft blue hour light and the warm glow from the bridge created a quiet and timeless scene, where the past and present seemed to meet.
