The waterwheel at Isegran was first built in 1975 and restored in 2020. It stands where the Glomma River divides — one branch flowing toward the Hvaler archipelago, the other becoming the Vesterelva that runs through Fredrikstad before reaching the sea.
On this quiet afternoon between Christmas and New Year, frost covered the smooth coastal rocks along the riverbank.
As evening settled in, the cormorants had already gathered in the trees beside the waterwheel, ending another winter day along the river.
